My Four Tested Tricks to Combat Menstrual Pain
When I get my period, I’m almost always guaranteed to have a bad time, particularly on the second day. Don’t ask me why, but the second day of my menstruation is when I get the most terrible cramps and abdominal aches. I’ve been getting periods every month now for about five and a half years, so I’ve come up with some ways that I find help me in combating the awful aches that menstruation can cause.
• Exercise – You probably think I’m crazy for suggesting this; I mean, why would you want to exercise when you feel like you’re being stabbed in the abdomen over and over? Seriously, though, I’ve found that doing things like skipping, star jumps and light stretches help me to loosen up a little bit and in turn help in lessening the abdominal pain I’m experiencing.
• Sleep – Have a snooze! Even though your cramps will probably make it hard for you to stay still, just try to rest and let a wave of calm roll over you.
• Breathing exercises – When I get anxious, I practice various breathing exercises that also help me to relax when I get really bad period pain. The breathing ‘waltz’ is my favorite; put your hands on your stomach and count to three slowly as you inhale and exhale. Focus on the way your diaphragm moves up and down. It works, I promise. Makes you feel at ease.
• Knitting – It provides you with something repetitive and therefore somewhat therapeutic to do. The rhythm of my fingers twirling around the knitting needles helps me focus on creating something, rather than concentrating on how severely uncomfortable I might be feeling at that time.
These are my top four go-to activities for whenever I’m experiencing really bad period pain.
While different things work for different people, I still think y’all should give these a try and see if they work for you. Thanks for reading my article!
