Aakanksha Choudhary

She has mentored three enthusiastic and bright 14-year-olds in building a prototype of an application on menstruation.She has also guided her co-fellows in holding talks about menstruation in their respective communities. She believes that inequity in any form is a major hindrance to society’s growth and hence believes in putting utmost effort into bridging the gap across genders and communities.

Aakanksha is a Teach For India Fellow (Cohort 2020) with a bachelor's degree in Technology (Computer Science & Engineering). She decided to make the switch from being an Application Developer for 5.7 years at IBM to the Development sector because she believes teaching children is a sure-fire way to hone the future leaders of our country. She was also a part of the Menstrupedia Fellowship Batch in the year 2020 and has been a period educator since. She has educated 140 children across grades 8 & 9 and facilitated learning circles around topics like puberty and menstruation, she also strives to teach values and mandatory lessons from English & Social Science textbooks to them.

She is also an ardent Toastmaster for the past 3 years, held various leadership positions, and won contests across divisions and districts. She believes in the philosophy of Integrative thinking and that the best solutions can resolve a multitude of problems rather than just one. Her upcoming projects include a podcast based on Menstruation and its various aspects which are expected to be released soon.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Workshop takes place for 1 hour, followed by a 45 min Q&A session with your trainer Aakanksha.

The Workshop is open to anyone who is interested to become a menstrual educator irrespective of their gender.

Apart from the certificate, you would be provided with the supplementary resources to conduct Menstrual awareness workshops and 10 copies of Mini Menstrupedia comic books.

The Workshop provides tips and ideas to conduct impactful period workshops which would work in rural, semi-urban and urban areas equally.

In all Workshop sessions, people participate from various countries like Australia, UK, USA, Mauritius, Italy, France and Singapore among others. The session takes place in English language and from 3-5 PM (IST), so you would have to match your timings accordingly.

Once you register and pay the amount, we would contact you through mail. You would be constantly updated at each process. The workshop takes place on the video conferencing application Zoom meeting and WhatsApp is also used for notifying the participants.

Joining our Workshop would be a great first step if you haven't decided how to contribute to the Menstrual Health Movement. The class enables the formation of a community of menstrual educators who come from different parts of the world and different walks of life. You can always contact Menstrupedia or the WhatsApp group, in which you would be added, about updates of your projects, suggestions and feedback for others. Workshop aims to bring a set of people with similar purpose of creating Menstrual Health Awareness and help them collaborate with each other to contribute effectively in their respective fields like education, NGOs, support groups, student volunteers, etc.

We are unable to send out recordings of the meeting due to privacy of participants. The length of the recording is usually more than 2 hours, making it difficult to share.

No specific educational qualification is required to join the Workshop. You just require the basic understanding of English language since the class would be conducted in English.
