Make periods safe and happy for these girls
The menstruation and taboo around it is still a major cause of absenteeism and drop out from schools in our country. This is not only restricting girls from completing their schooling but the social stigma, myths and unhygienic practices around menstruation is preventing them from growing and developing in a healthy manner.
The incomplete information and unanswered questions further intensify the situation. The results of which are seen in the form of various infectious diseases and life-threatening situations. We at Happy Periods are working to create awareness among school children and their mothers with the help of ASHA and teachers by conducting workshops in schools.
This campaign aims to distribute Menstrupedia Comics in 120 schools of Surat District for their school library. Thus, benefitting the currently present girls and teachers along with ensuring the same value for the ones yet to come.
The comics are great resource for information and promoting talks on the issue.

A girl learns about menstruation through an entertaining and engaging workshop. She gets a copy of Menstrupedia comic to take home so that she can learn at her own pace, about growing up, nutrition and taking care during periods.

The girl uses the book to not only educate herself but also her family members and friends.

Girls are encouraged to share the book with their friends once they have learned from it.

This creates friend circles where majority of friends are aware about periods and this friend circle serves as a period support group for the girls during their years in schools.
